Every day is a new day.

Happy New Year!!!

Whew! We made it through 2020!!! So many changes for everyone, right to the very end, and here we are, finally crossing in to 2021!

New Year means new resolutions, for a better me. This year my resolution is to leave the hiatus I have been taking from school and finish my transfer degree (just one science with a lab to go!) and apply to universities to continue my BFA.

Every year when going through the process of reapplying for financial aid, I am brought to the realization that so many people labor under the impression that going back to school is out of reach to them for various reasons, most of the time circling back to lack of funds. I am here to help clarify, where there is a will, there is a way.

I graduated high school in 2006 in Texas. My daughters were born in the following few years and for a few years after that, I was a stay-at-home mom in hardship, college was a dream for me. In March of 2013, an event occurred that changed my life forever, and after relocating to Oregon, I endured my second brain surgery and enrolled in my first term of college as a working, single mother of two amazing girls in August.

All it took was a phone call to the advisors at the college I was interested in and I soon found myself being educated on the process of enrolling, how to apply for financial aid, scholarships, and grants, and what classes might be considered to get started. I was not even sure what I wanted to be when I grew up yet.

With the guidance of some great advisors on campus and a little experience in campus life, I began my journey of education in Fine Art.

Over the years there have been many more obstacles to overcome raising the girls and working while going to school as a full-time college student, and in 2017 one of those obstacles encouraged another life change, and an unexpected move turned in to a three-year hiatus and now, it is time to get back into the saddle and finish my degree!

SO…. Allen and I have made the commitment to fill out our FAFSAs early and right after our New Year kiss, we will hit the SUBMIT button and begin again our college adventures!
